My biggest concern about traveling to Jordan was figuring out what in the world to wear. I’m a strict carryon only traveler and 10 days of travel + a black tie wedding required some clever packing. My top criteria were that each article of clothing needed to be versatile, breathable, and easy to wear multiple times (with the exception of the gown I packed).
Jordan is a lot less conservative than many parts of the Middle East, but I still wanted to pack clothes that were respectful and acceptable to wear to mosques and other holy sites. Maxi dresses and fashion-y trousers were my best friends for the trip.
My Favorite Carry-Ons
Before I dive right into the clothes I first want to recommend the two carry-ons that I own and love. When I search for a carryon I look for something that is durable, will fit on most airlines (I always buy luggage that fits European Airlines’ carryon luggage regulations), and is unique.
In full disclosure, the company that makes this first carry-on, Raden, is no longer in business, but you can still find their products on Amazon. Raden is my favorite suitcase brand I’ve come across in the past five years. Their luggage is durable, it’s incredibly well designed, and is lightweight. Since Raden is now out of business you can find some incredible deals and get one of their carry-ons for under $100.
This second carry-on is high on style and is almost too pretty to put in the overhead. I love Sreamline carry-on bags because they are both beautiful and durable. If you are looking to splurge on a beautiful piece of luggage that will last you years this is the bag.
Versatile Travel Dresses
There are a few things I look for in a travel dress - breathable fabric, a flattering design, and versatility. A few of my favorite brands for travel are Christy Dawn, Reformation, Faithful the Brand, Island Company, and Sezane. What I love about these dresses is that they can be worn with sneakers or sandals for exploring by day and with a pair of wedges for a more formal night look.
High Style Trousers
There is something Audrey Hepburn-esque about an amazing pair of trousers. I love anything that is linen or made out of a technical fabric. Two of my favorite brands to shop for these types of pieces are Aday and Massimo Dutti.
Easy to Layer Tops
For tops - I love to wear Everlane tee shirts and Aday buttons up. What I love about Aday in particular is that the button ups are wrinkle resistant and can easily be worn a couple of times.
Comfortable & Chic Travel Shoes
Shoes are always the hardest item for me to pack. Usually, I like to bring three pairs on a longer trip - 1 pair of flats/fashion sneakers, one pair of wedges, and an athletic sneaker. My all time favorite travel sneaker brand is Superga. Their sneakers are comfortable, fashionable, and versatile. For wedges I love Castaner. Their shoes are effortlessly chic and I can walk for miles in their wedges.
